I studied theatre design at Central School of Art and Design, London in the 1960's. My professional practice was theatre design and scenography. From 1976,  I also taught in, and helped run, arts institutions in London, Hong Kong and Singapore.

I am a passionate believer in the fundamental importance of creativity. I am primarily interested in the interplay between the conscious and intuitive processes involved in artistic investigation and try to allow the techniques and materials I use to guide me towards an authentic outcome, although notions of "finished" remain elusive. I feel privileged to be able to work every day.
